Elves

Elves are in touch with the earth and are at home underground or in urban cities. Many ages ago (in the Fifth Age), elves had great cities and kingdoms in the Commonwealth, before the humans took over. Elven cities went into quick decline and were abandoned as elves moved into the new human cities and became an underclass.
Elves are tinkerers and scholars at heart. They love making fiddly items (like magic boxes, mechanical toys, etc.). They also gravitate toward academic professions (such as university professor and scholar) and social professions (like actor, prostitute, and diplomat). They have a relatively low social standing because the humans regard their professions as low value, and their numerical makeup in the Commonwealth is below 20%. There is always talk of removing elven voting rights in the Commonwealth.
