Role

Avinthas is the honor-bound deity of civilization and righteousness. Avinthas is the most widely worshipped human god on Oraereum. Avinthas governs honor, valor and noble causes. He always maintains a vigil over good men and women and watches over them. His teachings are the basis of most major law systems in human cities and his propensity for fair treatment and courage is an inspiration to all that dwell in the largest of cities or the smallest of hamlets.

Dogma/Edicts

The teachings of Avinthas rely on authority but Avinthas teaches his followers that to abuse the power given to you is to invite his wrath upon your holdings and that any person, peasant or knight, is capable of the same feats given the willpower to succeed. “To act with honor, to lead with valor and to live with nobility.” is the code of Avinthas and is the code that all paladins, clerics and holy men of Avinthas strive to live by. All clergy of Avinthas are also expected, without question, to be able to pick up a weapon and champion the cause of Avinthas. As such it is very important for all clergy of Avinthas to have some weapon training for times of peril and need.

To oppress the weak, to act without honor and to let people suffer when you could help.

Depiction

Avinthas is generally depicted in paintings and religious iconography as a clean shaven human male with shoulder length blond hair in silver full plate. He is never depicted without his favored weapon, the greatsword, and to depict him without a weapon is considered blasphemous at best.

Relations

Avinthas allies himself with Baerad and recognizes the Earth King as a powerful martial ally and champion of law. Avinthas also holds good relations with Teverus and Treyum whom both share his belief in freedom and just treatment of all people. Avinthas is at odds with any evil or corrupt deity but holds a special hatred of Chas-Rim whom he considers a two-fold curse upon the world and opposes at every turn.
