Lord Destriox
Lord Destriox, Destroyer of Hamlets is a Death Knight most frequently associated with the northern Aquatic Kingdoms. In life, he was a Halfling warrior sworn to protect the Circle of the Sunken Grove, one of the Druid Circles of the Land in the interior of Isla Voli. Though he was known in his village as a dedicated protector and servant, he was secretly cruel to his wife Hyacinth, a folk-witch and a druid of the circle. When she left him, he burned down the druids' grove on a high holy day. The fire immolated the entire grove, the circle, and Destriox himself. He rose from the ash the next day, animated by a dark power, never to rest.
Lord Destriox is short for a death knight, since he was a halfling in life. His armor is not iron, but blackened, charred, and twisted wood. He harbors a particular hatred for nature and those who draw their power from it. In the centuries since his death, Destriox has often been called into service by cruel lords who wish to destroy a sacred grove or small village to build new mansions or fortresses on. All record of Destriox's clan association has been stricken from memory, and no halfling clan will claim him.
