Heartvine

A heartvine is the magical core root at the center of a Vesiculosa. If buried within an intact vesiculosa plant, it allows the plant to slowly regenerate even from complete death.
The heartvine is a vein buried deep within the body of the vesiculosa plant that looks like a knobbled branch made of pure sapphire. Sages believe it evolved when the plant spread north into areas with winter. It dies away quickly when the ground temperature is too low, but its thick membrane resists true rot. Therefore, it is usually completely intact when the ground warms again in the spring. The heartvine allows this death to act more like a hibernation period.
Heartvines have a number of alchemical purposes and are sought after by potionmakers. When tied next to the heart of a dead humanoid for twenty-four hours, it can resurrect their body, though it cannot heal any further mortal wounds (e.g. missing limbs, severe organ damage). Unlike within the vesiculosa plant, it loses its potency after resurrecting a humanoid.
