Draconologist

A draconologist is a sage who studies Dragons. It is considered a difficult and foolhardy area of study.
Sociodraconologists study the history, customs, personal tendencies, and social structures of dragons. A few brave sociodraconologists are occasionally sponsored by governments as attempted ambassadors within Draxhaven. This rarely ends well for the sociodraconologist.
Arcanodraconologists study the magical properties of dragons, such as their innate spellcasting, breath weapons, and Perpetual Flight. This is considered by some to be the least dangerous field of draconology, as information can be gathered by observing previously-discovered draconic artifacts or (in rare cases) befriending and interviewing a benevolent Metallic Dragon.
Dracobiologists study the biology and anatomy of dragons. While dracobiology in smaller, less deadly dragonkin—drakes, wyverns, faerie dragons, and pseudodragons—is a well-researched field, only a handful of documented autopsies of true dragons have ever been conducted, for reasons that should be obvious.
