Session 17 Report

General Summary

After much deliberation, the decision was made to bury Doug the Horness Unicorn in the Dreadwitch Bog. It took nearly eight hours to complete, but the party worked, exhausted and soaked to the bone until their friend was laid to rest. A gravemarker was placed in the mud where he was buried. Medzire and Sausage took braided locks of his main as mementos of their fallen friend before moving on. The disruption of the earth caused an influx of the swarming and stinging insects as several clouds of them attacked the party. Most of the bugs were quickly destroyed, but not before the sounds of battle alerted a local Rot Troll to their presence. The giant barrled through the trees, knocking the brush away with its huge, decaying fists and began its attack on Rail. It became abundantly clear this fight was not going to end in victory for the party as the trolls necrotic aura radiated around it in waves of sickness. Mac'Velly decided to try to reason with the creature and succesfully convinced it that there were troll hunters coming that he would be better of fighting instead. This dazzling display of deception turned the battle in their favor as the troll ran south into the bog again, leaving the party. The adventurers used their final bit of strength to press onward, noticing that the fog was thinning as they travelled west. Finally, it appeared as though dawn was breaking and there may be a glimpse of sun for the first time in weeks as the six heroes stood on the outskirts of the bog and overlooked a new, unknown territory. A peculiar reedy marsh with several hut-like structures suspended in the water.
