C2E25 - We Might Have Made A Miscalculation

General Summary

Date - 28 Ches 815 IE

The session begins on the morning of 28 Ches as the party is packing up their camp, Kengan's war party visible in the far distance, as Elle receives a Sending from one of the Seers are Lura Keep, advising the party that the Empire's forces, who had begun marching towards Givzie, would be arriving on Tarsakh 1 and begin taking their own actions against Kengan's ragtag army, and no one really wanted the Imperial intervention to get off the ground. The Seer also tells Elle that Zinro has been missing and no one has been able to contact him since he left on the 22nd.   In an effort to get this dealt with before the Imperials arrive at Lura Keep, the party presses on, pushing later into the night to try and make good time. On 29 Ches, Stu the Bird, who had been doing aerial surveillance, notices a large party of about 70 people leave from Kengan's camp and ride north, though no one in the party is quite sure where they would be going to, however they are grateful that the numbers are fewer.   Knowing that time is against them and grateful that the camp is 70 people smaller than it was that morning, the party presses on through the evening and decides to target the camp that night, coming up with a plan. Lilly, joined by Stu, uses the cloak to sneak into the camp and try to find out who in terms of generals and their locations. Though there is no sign of Kengan, they do find Cinder and Pride are in the camp, and while Pride does not seem to be tiring, Cinder retired to bed shortly after their scouting begins, allowing the party to get a pinpoint on her location.   After Lilly returns to the camp with the information, the entire party decides to sneak into the camp, corner her in her tent, and hopefully take out her and then Pride with little fuss. Unfortunately, things do not go to plan.   While the party is able to get quite deep into the camp, there are a few members who are less than light on their feet, and before they arrive at Cinder's tent, the horns are blown signaling that the camp is aware of the invasion. Desperate for their plan to work, the party breaks into a dead sprint to Cinder's tent, determined to take her down. Desra runs ahead and is able to get a few initial hits on the woman, but by the time the rest of the party arrives, not only have several soldiers joined the fray, but Cinder has changed forms and transformed into a looming bear made up of lava.   Shortly before Cinder is taken down, Pride arrives, and the party is surprisingly able to take both of them down while still managing to keep the endless flood of soldiers at bay, bodies piling up quickly around them.   However, the strength of the camp becomes too much for the party and they find themselves begging for a surrender which falls on deaf ears.   The session ends on the late evening of 29 Ches as the entire party lays unconscious and bleeding on the ground, surrounded by hundreds of Kengan's men, the bodies of Kengan's generals and an approximate 37 additional bodies on the ground.
