Gods-touched

Used to refer to the strange changes a human undergoes when they are exposed directly to a god's interest. The condition rarely ever has the exact same effect on different people, but always contains aspects of the deity that touched them. Often this condition grants access to magical powers otherwise impossible for mortals to preform.

Usually transferred through a lengthy ritual calling on the deity in question.

Causes

The direct, focused attention of a deity.

Symptoms

Exaggerations or changes of body proportions or anatomy, causing the carrier to resemble in some ways the deity who touched them. Torgo 's High Rotmonger sprouts mushrooms, Tyto 's High Priestess is blind in one eye except in complete magical darkness.

Treatment

Treatment generally isn't sought, as being god-touched is considered a blessing. Somehow loosing the deity's favor would reverse the condition.

Prognosis

The condition actually extends the afflicted's life span, although it is not a panacea for other afflictions.

Cultural Reception

Most people who have been gods-touched have been affected as part of the ritual for becoming a High Priest, so people who are gods-touched are viewed with at least a tinge of awe, if not outright reverence.
