Arqon

An arqon was the appointed ruler of a city in a dracostate.

Position

The office was not hereditary; often, one of the ruling dragon's courtiers was chosen to replace a city's previous arqon, if they either died or displeased the dragon. These positions were historcally not long-held, thanks to the cutthroat politics in the dragonate court.
Over their respective city, however, the arqon held total sway, answerable only to the dragonate. In this way, they were sometimes called "wyrmlings" or "little dragons", though rarely to their faces.
