A Tale of Four Sisters

Told by Timothy Tatterling
Once upon a time there were four sisters who ruled the four corners of the land. One loved children, but had none of her own. She made a race of people who remained child-sized, and lived happily among them. One loved animals, but was lonely and yearned for conversation. She taught the animals to think and talk like people, and lived happily among them. One loved solitude, but wished for a companion with which to share the silence. She met a quiet man and had a child and lived happily among them. One loved power and was never satisfied. She killed her sisters and frightened their citizens, and lived miserably alone.   One of the Animals was particularly brave and particularly kind and particularly wise. She led the other animals away and found them a new home. There she rules to this day--the Lady of Beasts, the Queen of Sithean, our own Mother Goose.
