New Tallax
Following the devastation caused to the entire Borg Collective by a neurolytic pathogen deployed by the USS Voyager, the transwarp network utilsed by the Borg and which Voyager used to finally return back to the Alpha Quadrent, was seemingly destroyed as well. However, along with other Borg technology, some of the network's physical components survived, including some of the actual gateway structires that faciltated transwarp jumps across different points. In the aftermath of the Borg Collective's downfall, some of these gateways were able to be repaired and ractivated by various parties, with most success being found in the Delta Quadrent thanks to being the location of most Borg technology already on the Galaxy and due to the familairty of many races with Borg technology there. As a result, a limited transwarp network was established in the Delta quadrent, opening up access to previously distant or difficult to access locations.
During the 2380s, the Talaxians colonists that the USS Voyager encountered in 2378, and to whom Neelix had joined permanently, had moved on from their previous asteroid refugee, seeking to find a new location that was both secure and resource abudent, as well as to avoid a larger and more hostile force of the local miners, who were attempting to move into the area again with greater force than before. While travelling, the Talaxian convoy discovered the gatway, in use facilitating trade between the . After discussing potential options, it decided that the colony should attempt to return to the Northern Delta Quadrent through the gateway, back closer to the original location of Tallix. Neelix himself hoped that by this point of time, the scars of the war between the Talaxians and the may have healed better. He also cited both his own and others familarity with the area. While they were still unable to return to their homeworld, Neelix and the colonists did find another resource rich asteroid filed, one that could support their population.
