Christopher Pike
Fleet Captain
Christopher Pike is one of the most distinguished officers of Starfleet, being the second captain of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 and the longest serving for the ship
Pike would quietly disappear from public view after his accident. Enquiries about his location and status would be rebuffed whenever the question were put towards Starfleet and family members and friends would refuse to speak with journalists about the matter. While some conspiracy minded individuals would put forward a number of therories, such as his accident being a deliberate assassination attempt by Starfleet or other groups and that he had disappeared due to activities involving an alien race he had encountered on a previous meeting, these stories lacked credability and few would circulate them among the public. In 2320, a press release would be issued by Starfleet announcing the Captain's death due to natural causes and some of his ashes had been buried at his home in Moajave on Earth in a private ceremony. The tangible evidence of this burial would further quiet conspirational circles, though some still put forward questions regarding Pike's final days and his retreat from public life, as well as the nature of several of his missions.
In recognition of the captain's achievements and sacrifice, Starfleet would create the Christopher Pike medal of Valor, which is awarded to officers for uncommon acts of bravery in the line of Starfleet duty. Furthermore, on the colony of Cestus 3, the new capital city built after the Gorn attack of would be named Pike City.
