Andoria
History
According to Andorian tradition, during the 19th century, the era of clan warfare finally came to an end due to the work of Thalisar the last. Through her guidance diplomacy, peace was made between the Andorian clans in the city of Laikan, uniting the Andorian people together in a single planet wide constitutional monarchy under Thalisar's rule. Empress of Andoria.
Andorians have often been observed as the Federation's answer to the Klingons during the moments of time when the two powers have been at odds, with many observing similarities between their concepts of honour, martial prowess, competitive streak and physical strength and stamina.
Tourism
As a founding member world of the Federation, Andoria has much to offer for visiting tourists, ranging from history, to sports to extensive leisure accommodations.
The capital city of Laikan holds many monuments, muesums and memorials fot those interested i Andorian history, including
the Plaza of Freedom; where according to Andorian tradition, was the site where peace was made between the Andorian clans, the Wall of Heroes; where those who have died in serive to Andor such Imperial Guardsmen, Starfleet officers or noted allies of the Andorian people are memorialised with a sample of their blood, Palace of Zhevazha; the former residence of the last royal family of Andoria all the way up to Thalisar the Last and is where her famous "Empty" throne remains; the Shran, Kumari and Vol'Rala memorials and Therin Park, an extensive nature space within the city consisting of stone paths, waterfalls and collections of every plant species known on Andoria.
Andorians also have an active and vibrant sports culture. As in combat, Andorians are among some of the best and most competitive sports athletes in the Federation.
Shortly after the Federation's founding, Andorian diplomatic representatives on Earth as part of a cultural exchange would soon discover an old Human sport that had fallen out favor after the outbreak of World War 3: Hockey. The representatives were intrigued by this ice-based sport, finding a number of similarites between it and some of their own and asking their human counterparts itsnature during leisure time. As time passed, they, along with their Human companions would end up rediscovering much of the sport, as well as a number of other Ice based pastimes like bobsleding. Eventually, these new enthusiasts within the diplomatic corps would suggest introducing these sports into the Federation proper, sponsoring the development of new training schools, sports centres and local nd national teams. The timing could not have been more helpful, as other groups among Earth's populace were hoping to establish the planet's Olympic Sports festivial, following it's third worldwide revival after First Contact, as a new tradition within the Federation, as it had been for Earth itself. The two movements naturally found support from each other and by the mid 2190s, ten years after the establishment of Federation Olympic Games and the reintroduction of Hocky into mainstream Human sports, Andoria had eestablished it's own teams.
Over the last two centuries, Andorians have proven themselves masters of the ice, with numorous hard won trophies taken and nail-biting games held. The national Andorian team would develop a renown friendly rivilary with their Human counterparts with the two teams often competing up to the finals against each other, and then develop another, more intense and equally famous rivialery against the newly made Klingon team, following the Khitomer Accords, one that has nearly led to actual combat on several occasions on the hockey pitch between the two highly competitive groups.
Andorians have award winning teams in other cold weather sports such as skiing, snowboarding bob-sledding and others, having had similar activities comparable to these as staple sporting activities even long before Federation membership.
