Herseus (HER-shihs)

A small rocky planet closest to Sena in the Astrae System.
It was colonized by the People's Ventarian Federation. It has two moons that are locked in geosynchronous orbit. Both the moon and the planet are composed primarily of metals. The Essies who terraformed the planet took the opportunity to expand upon this feature to create magnificent floating islands suspended in a unique planetary and lunar magnetosphere. Being so close to the sun, solar dust clouds frequently brush across the planet, sparking a brilliant aurora borealis as they interact with the magnetic field. Being a colony of the democratic PVF, it was relatively easy for them to declare independence and form their own democratic government known as the Hersean Republic. They were the first colonized world to gain independence.
