Annelise Giselle Louisa Philippa Grace Montrose

Lady Annelise Giselle Louisa Philippa Grace Montrose (a.k.a. Annie)

While most people might be content to have people do everything for them, that is not the type of princess Annelise wants to be. She has always wanted to be able to experience life outside of the castle and to have experiences with her people first hand, with them speaking plainly to her, without knowing who she is. While she has been trying to sneak out of the castle for years, she never thought she would ever get out of Paravel... But here we are!

Annie has always has access to the best tutors. While she finds learning through books dull, she loves to learn. She has learned about etiquette, languages, histories, needlepoint, sketching, horseback riding and more over the years. Anything that she has ever wanted to try, she has been able to try.   Her favorite classes have always been with Ser Libuseh Konrova, who has taught her everything that she know about combat and strategies, mainly because it is hands on, and she feels much more satisfied after a sparing match than when leaving the library.

Annie's goal for her adventures is to learn as much as she can first hand about her people and lands. She hopes to use what she learns to be the best Queen she can be when her time to take the throne comes.

Does sneaking out of places count? If not, she is quite good at needlepoint and sketching.

Speech

While she speak fairly properly and elegantly overall, when with people she trusts, she does not hold back saying what she really thinks.

Wealth & Financial state

Entry 7

Today was a whirlwind of a mess. Well, to start, we all had a really weird dream, but no time to dwell on that… While we were bringing the crate to the lighthouse, we came across what seemed to be a merchant that was completely torched. We did find a crate of really expensive smelling coffee… Like, no one in Aelthwater save the Baron could afford this. Then we got to the lighthouse, and we needed to wait until the tide went down, and had a wonderful dinner with the family here. It was a couple, the father of one of the parents, a son and a daughter. The daughter does seem to possibly recognize me, but is also reading a history book that is not the story that I know… something about the current royal family of Allaria actually is the royal family of Icro, who moved the capital to Allaria when they won the war they had been fighting 500 years ago. I don’t feel that sounds right… but the day was not done then. While we were at the lighthouse, there was a bit of a storm going through. While we were looking out to the water, we saw a ship that had the same flag as the ship that was in our really weird dream… It was a hot mess of a lot of things and I don’t even know what to say about it… but if this is any indication, it might be some kind of prophecy or something… While we were on our way back to Aelthwater, the lighthouse’s light went out… So we ran back, finding some terrifying creatures from the sea. Sea Devils the grandfather said. They were trying to take him, but also took the mother with them. So we are planning on going to find her. Hopefully everything goes well. If this is the end of this book, well, I died trying to save someone, and I feel that is something I can feel proud of.

Entry 6

By the Gods, Silas has a kid! He is soooo cute! I never would have guessed! He also brought us to the blacksmith who is the kid’s grandfather… From what I gather, something happened to the kid’s mum, so the blacksmith is very unkind to Silas… in front of the kid… That seems like not a great situation for the kid… We are going to be visiting the local lighthouse to deliver something from the blacksmith in a few days. I am really excited to see more of the area. There is something that really does make me concerned. While we were having our breakfast, someone came into The Three Belles to tell them that the Barron was going to be increasing the taxes: not only is the amount going to double; they are going to be collected every 2 weeks instead of once a month… They said that it was because of increased bandit activity in the area… but quadrupling the amount seems to be a lot… From the information Silas gave me, before this change personal taxes were a few silver a person a month, property owners around 1 to 5 gold a month, and businesses anywhere from 10 to 100 gold a month.

Entry 5

It may have slipped up, but honestly, with everything that has happened, I want to make sure that there is some trace that I did get here in some way. I did leave a letter with Alma about paying for someone to work for them for the year, and signed my first name and I did stamp it with my crest. I hope it does not bite me in the butt, but hey, my goal is not to hide, it is to help people. We did return to town, got there without anyone jumping us this time. When I got back, there was a crow with a ring and note from Hellena. She is the best and I miss her so very much. Apparently people are very mad at me, to the point that my parents have threatened to send The Seven to find me… I can already hear Konrova’s lecture the entire way home if she is the one they send… I can’t imagine them sending someone else… Although them sending Gosric might not be as bad… Whoever they send, I don’t plan on fighting. Maybe running, but definitely not fighting. I feel bad for how much trouble my leaving has been for everyone else. I really should pick something up for my sister, to make up for the added trouble and security she needs to deal with. This could have gone so much smoother had I been permitted to do this, and had someone to accompany me throughout this journey. I think that I might take a few days to myself just to think about what is going on. I might go look for a small gift for my sister… something that she normally would not receive.

Entry 4

The shadow knew who I was, and now I am confused. So, we found a break in the fence that could probably be where the cows were taken. We followed an abandoned road to, coincidentally, the spirit’s temple, where were greeted by the bandits. Once we chased them away and secured the cows, the Shadow appeared. He said “Interesting to find you in my domain. I will make use of your presence. You will become a tool for me whether you want to or not. I hope your parents come quickly.” As much as I found yesterday draining emotionally, I think that this is the first time that I actually might consider going home. There seems to be a lot going on with the Gods… or whatever… There was some weird water puzzle that we ended up faced with, and then we met this… creature… I don’t know for sure, but from the look of it, based on myths that I have heard, might be a Gynosphinx... Kathron… They said something about things being forgotten, but it being for the greater good… That changes had to be made… and that it had something to do with the war… and something about an invasion that put all of Ommatia in danger… But also the Shadow is some source of chaos who wants to use the confusion to further their own plans… They are searching for artifacts of what was taken away… but what was taken away… Anyway, the creature wants us to find the artifacts and bring them to her, so that they don’t end up in the wrong hands, and also to remove the Shadow… Apparently there is some sort of prophecy… There would be one who swims against the stream, and yet follows the ocean. One with ties to ancient blood. One who’s allegiance looks questionable. Somehow I feel I might fit any of these descriptions… I insist on learning to lead my people my own way, though I still respect and maintain the responsibilities of my title. My family has been in it’s position for hundreds of years. And then there are some that may see my running away from home as abandoning my position and responsibilities. While Kathron did give us some magical items to help us do what she is asking of us, as well as some trinkets of value to sell if we need more supplies… These items do seem to be of great importance… they all seem to have similar wave symbols on them in silver and teal… I may try to keep one of them… They are very interesting. Today was just really confusing… At least we ended up finding the cows… but I am very worried for what I have somehow gotten myself into. All I wanted to do was travel to a few towns on each of the islands and meet the people without them knowing who I am. Somehow though, I am now trying to save all of Ommatia!

Entry 3

So Medrick, Silas and I decided to take a job from the job board together. We thought that we worked well together, so why not take on another job? We decided to travel to the Windthrop Farm, about an hour from the town center, to get more information about cow thieves. Our trip there ended up being fairly eventful… About halfway there, there was a tree that was cut down into the middle of the road, and we were jumped by a group of bandits. They told us that “The Diamond wants to send us a message” so that has me a little bit on edge. While I am glad that Konrova made sure that I was properly trained to defend myself, nothing that she taught me prepared me for actually killing someone when defending myself. While I know that they would have killed us had we not killed them, I still feel really bad about it. To make things worse, later on our trip, we came across what seemed to be a cart that was jumped by bandits. There were 2 corpses that seemed to be elves and maybe a hafling. We buried them in the woods nearby, but I never thought that things could be this dangerous and depressing. I’m sure that even d would have trouble getting me to feel better if the rest of my trip is like this… Once we got to the farm, the couple here are so cute and to an extent have reminded me why I took this trip. I want to know how to help people like them. They are so nice, but Rex has been working himself to death, and Alma is worried for him. They have reached a point where she fears loosing their home because they cannot afford to hire someone to stay on full time to help around the farm in the off season, on top of having cows stolen. I have decided that I really want to help them, so I want to send them the money to be able to hire someone for a year. On top of having cows stolen, there was a strange shadow that killed a cow when we got there. It was some kind of spirit who was possessed… The spirit said that the shadow was a being of pure evil. She also said that she felt like she could not remember things, but still felt like she knew them… Even if she is a spirit, she seems lost, so we are going to try to help her soul to rest, if we can find her temple.

Entry 2

After a few days of getting to know the lay of the town, I have had a really interesting time. I had some interesting conversations with a wizard who performs with their illusions on the docks… Although I think neither of us really learned anything about each other… There are also a lot of military ships that have made port… Strangely I cannot remember what they were supposed to be fighting… or them being called home… That is really worrying… I might need to look into that when I return home. There was an issue with the Inn that I have been staying at (The Three Belles) with mice appearing seemingly out of nowhere. The wizard from the docks (Silas Mash)and one of the soldiers from one of the ships (Medric) who seems to be a follower of Ignus were the only other customers in the dining room at the time, but we found that there was a magic hat that was placed there by some sort of cribe boss? Whoever he is, it seems to be an issue… The person that we did find was way too scared to be the one behind everything, and he did mention something about “The Diamond”... Silas and Medric seem OK. They have no clue who I am, and I kind of like that… I don’t think that I have ever had true friends, as people in my life do tend to treat me differently. The fact that people try to get close to me because of Who I am instead of who I am has always bothered me and it really feels nice to have people around me who treat me like an actual person. I think that I might try to get to know them better.

Entry 1

Finally, I have gotten my hands on a notebook. I knew that there was something that I had forgotten when I left Paravel… I want to be able to look back on this trip, or, who knows, some day my story whole can be told and people might understand why I chose to do this. After a boat ride that feels like it took ages, I have ended up getting off the ship in Aelthwater, on the island of Escus. This should be far enough that people won’t recognize me on the spot… Even the local nobility would only have met me in passing at events, if that, so it seems like the perfect place to start my travels. With the only identifiable things I wear being my signet ring and my dagger, that is kept hidden anyway, it should be difficult for them to find me. I really do feel bad for leaving… Hellena and the Captain could get in a lot of trouble… I wish that my parents would have supported me when I said I wanted to meet the people. I would not have to feel bad, I would be able to talk to my family, and they could have sent someone with me so would not have to be as worried. It really hurts to not be able to talk to anyone that I know. I feel bad that I have to actively avoid them. I am not trying to run away from my responsibilities; I am trying to learn what our people actually need, in hopes to be as informed as I can be when it comes time to take on more responsibilities. I don’t want to wait until then to do this, because at that point it will be too late.
