Zane
The Icon of Shadow
Zane, also known as the Flickering Shade, is a stout human with black hair and a pale complexion. Zane is typically depicted wearing dark blue clothing with accents of black around the edges of it. Zane was a student studying the arts of shadow magic in hopes of possibly finding a means of aiding Omen in communing with The Shroud. This was aided, and accomplished, with the help of his shadow companion, whom of which took the form of a dragon comprised of shadow itself. His mount is recognized as being a Shadow Drake.
Dogma
Zane is a calculating Icon, but they are incredibly unlucky. To understand shadow, to grasp that it can be welcoming at the worst of times and forboding at the best of times, and to differentiate what the shadows truly want. He is about warning those that venture too deep into the shadows of the dangers that lurk within the Shroud and the Callous Shade.
Gaining Favor or Redemption
Favor is only gained through gaining understanding of the Shroud and the Callous Shade. Those that earn the ire of Zane are ones that "delved too deep and have managed to trap themselves within their ignorance amongst the shades." This roughly translates out to, "being ignorant of the power that lies within shadow magic and the planes it pulls from and allowing that power to become wild and violent." Redemption is often sought through an obscure ritual: one must remove the light from a torch without extinguishing it.
Interactions with the world
Zane maintains the balance between the Shroud and Omen. However, it is believed that Zane is also responsible for creating locations that seal away volatile individuals that can cause great harm to Omen and the inhabitants of it. These demiplanes are run by these individuals, but they are sealed within them. Those that are unlucky enough to stumble upon these demiplanes in the Shroud may not be able to escape or may be pulled into their own demiplane to control. As such, many worshippers of Zane are guides that lead those that may be unfortunate enough to stumble into these demiplanes away from those very locations.
