Yggdrasil

The Embodiment of Nature

Yggdrasil is a gargantuan tree that is at the center of the plane known as Verdon. Its canopy extends across the entirety of the plane and simulates day and night through the changing of its leaves. During the day the leaves develop an ethereal appearance as light can pass through giving the appearance of the shadows as underwater waves, but the light is accented with prismatic brilliance. At night the leaves become opaque, but the spaces between branches and leaves allow starlight to pass through as the flowers along the paths of Verdon start to glow vibrantly to light the way for travelers. At Yggdrasil itself, it is miles across with bark that extends well over a mile inward. Only dryads and fae lords/ladies are allowed to interact with Yggdrasil physically. Its mount is recognized as being a Plant Harvester.

Dogma

Yggdrasil's tenets are of acceptance of the course of nature. To those that try to interpret this as "too vague," it is often argued that nature is not meant to be understood as it is instincts and feelings. With this, druids and rangers spread the doctrine of "nature's course" so others gain a better understanding. The cycle of life and death will always persist, and there is no escaping it but prolonging it.

Gaining Favor or Redemption

To gain favor with Yggdrasil, all one must do is participate in the cycle of life and death. To respect and become a caretaker for nature's bounties and misgivings. However, to lose favor with Yggdrasil is difficult, but possible. If one were to try and escape the cycle of life and death then Yggdrasil will only desire for you to merge back into the cycle. The redemption needed is of completing the cycle, and that is to provide your own death, or for you to aid in the creation of life.

Interactions with the world

Yggdrasil's contributions to Omedei begin with providing the beginnings of the cycle of life and death. The creation and the caretaking of life is the basis of Yggdrasil and, in turn, is the purpose of all trees. As a reminder to Omedei, Yggdrasil created a seed that only certain druids of Yggdrasil can procure. This seed, once planted, only needs to be nurtured by a dryad. After a year's time, the seed will become a sapling, and the surrounding area will be engulfed in green flames. These flames will convert the plants in the surrounding area to a mossy ash that will be the beginnings of the dryad's grove. The increasingly fertile ground and the magical healing effects of the grove are sought after by many who are aware. This is the true trial of the druid that received the seed as they must keep the grove a secret until the sapling is fully matured. Those that receive the gifts of the grove early will doom the area to blight and the dryad will wither away along with the sapling. Only when it is fully grown that it can restore a body to its entirety, soul and all. This seed is often called Verdon's Testament.
