Ruff Duff
The Champion of Weather
Ruff Duff is a wolf-like humanoid that performed His duties as a dungeon guardian for Fire Opal. As She did not have a formal floor as She was bound to an extradimensional prison, Ruff had found it necessary to transport Her wherever He went. This is what caused Him to found an explorer’s guild to allow Himself to provide His Core what She desired. This caused Him to always bear the burden of traveling through different weather conditions and this tempered His spirit to not only withstand the weather, but to control it. His mount is recognized as being a Dire Wolf.
Dogma
Ruff is a paranoid Champion. This is partly due to His soul being bound to Fire Opal, and the other part bound to Yurlungrr, the Great Dragon of Freedom. With His soul torn, He seeks to drive His followers away from His mistakes. To only put one’s all into only a single cause as opposed to many. However, with this in mind, His viewpoints change like the weather itself, and sometimes His opinions and decisions are not comprehended easily.
Gaining Favor or Redemption
To gain favor with Ruff, one must be willing to embrace change. This embrace is usually tentative, but preparation for these changes is key. Saying a prayer to Ruff before embarking on a voyage or expedition is necessary. To not perform this act is an affront to Ruff and cause for loss of favor. Redemption to Ruff is one done through symbolism. To sacrifice part of one’s soul in exchange for forgiveness.
Interactions with the world
Worshippers of Fire Opal tend to develop the preparedness that Ruff Duff is known for. Sometimes this is accompanied by paranoia and betrayal of one’s allies. Worshippers of Ruff have been known to avoid adventurers unless they pose a direct threat to the worshipper. If they do, then typically the worshipper will utilize guerilla tactics until the trespassers are worn and eliminated. Many Cores find utilizing Ruff Duff worshippers to be tedious as they are demanding in their influence. However, their preparedness and resourcefulness are welcome in some dungeons.
