Naeris Sindarin

The Guardian Idol of Self-Improvement and Duty

Naeris is a gray-skinned Male Star Elf with eyes of royal violet and short, silvery-white hair. He is usually depicted wearing dull gray, heavy plated armor that is battered and scarred, but His visage is untouched. The Guardian Idol Himself is often represented in written works as opposed to visual art. These written works tend to describe Naeris being more of a mentor to those that are experiencing problems. Naeris’s depictions are almost always meant to be lessons and are typically taught in academies for those that wish to discern what one’s aspirations will be. His mount is recognized as being a Vello Dire Wolf.

Dogma

Naeris is what can be considered a stern and direct Idol. Naeris desires to aid people, but not through solving their problems for them. He prefers to help them overcome their own problems instead of resolving them himself. Naeris is an Idol of action and proving that one’s limitations are meant to be motivators. His greatest motivation is provided through Jack Orabelle, the Divine Idol of Balance and Honor, as His chaotic behaviors tend to push Naeris into being more reactive than proactive.

Gaining Favor or Redemption

Naeris is an advocate for those that overcome great hardship and challenges. To gain favor, one must recognize what their personal trials are, and then follow through with overcoming these trials themselves. Losing favor with Naeris is often due to having others conquer your challenges, with you having nothing to gain from it besides one less obstacle in the way. Thus, the means of regaining His favor is through facing a challenge truly by one’s self, with this challenge being worthy of acknowledgement. However, one must not take credit for this victory and be humble about one’s accomplishment.

Interactions with the World

Naeris is an Idol that provides minor boons to His faithful. This, however, contrasts to how He is worshipped. Many of His priests never seek to commune with Naeris as they seek to invoke His teachings of aiding others overcome their struggles as opposed to seeking divine intervention to “cheat” a solution. Naeris does intervene very rarely, and these interventions are only during times of great peril for the elves. Though His everyday worshippers invoke His guidance on solutions as opposed to aid, Naeris does overextend His will to save those that have shown great improvement.
