Luna

The Embodiment of Sacrifice

Luna is a large light gray wolf with dark markings across Her body and patches of fur missing due to severe acid burns that have left gruesome scars in their place. Her companionship with Mani, the Great Being of Sacrifice, was significant in His success in bringing about the return of dragonkind. Her sacrifice on behalf of the other pantheons brought about the success of those pantheons having permission to exist. She aided in guiding dangerous, feral dragons away from fledgling deities and was able fend them off long enough for Herself to find rest in the home Mani and Her grew up in. Her mount is recognized as being a Dire Wolf.

Dogma

Luna is an incredibly loyal Embodiment that chose to sacrifice Her own life to save the friends of Her closest friend, Mani. With this, Luna’s will is to aid those with Mani’s best interests at heart, Her own, or even that of the natural order. She recognizes the cost of a life and knows that one cannot frivolously toss life away to solve any problem. Loss of life is never the best solution, but it sometimes is the only solution.

Gaining Favor or Redemption

Luna’s favor is gained through not the act of sacrifice, but finding ways around sacrifice. Sacrifice is not meant to be considered the only option, but a necessary one if there are no others available. Loss of favor, however, is performed through taking sacrifice as the only route. Redemption in this case is dependent on the sacrifice. With material goods it is typically redeemed through charity. With limbs and bodily functions it is through self-reflection and meditation. But with one’s life, it is a different case. When one passes on to Verdon, their penance is that of traveling the paths without guidance. Where animals and travelers avoid them as if you are not seen. For your sacrifice is not one that should gain fame or notoriety, but it should have impact nonetheless. When that impact is finally felt, that is when the planar shunning ceases and guidance can be given.

Interactions with the World

Luna’s contribution to Omedei comes in the form of a fern that varies in coloration depending on the druid grove it grows in. These colorations are that of the chromatic dragons that reside on Omedei and the textures of the fronds are about the same. Known as Dragonferns, these short plants with thin fronds come in many varieties based on the environment the druid grove is in. These alter the Dragonfern in multitudes of ways, but some of the effects of using the Dragonfern for alchemical purposes are extraordinary. If one were to make a paste out of the fronds, they can apply it to their skin and gain resistances to the element the Dragonfern is attuned to. Ingestion applies the same effect, but for a shorter duration. However, to properly prepare and ingest the roots of the Dragonfern can render one undetectable to dragons attuned to the same element the Dragonfern was. The earthy texture combined with the elemental tang of the concoction have made many bar owners and distillers adamant about using these ferns for adventuring liquor.
