Aust
The Guardian Idol of Nature and Protection
Aust is a Male Wood Elf with pale, scaled skin, verdant eyes, and hair of riverside soil. He has often been depicted wearing golds, greens, and browns in artistic renditions. The Guardian Idol Himself is often represented in various art mediums of valor and the safeguarding of nature. Many who revere Aust in such a way have shown Him in works that depict Him as defending the other pantheons' deities from great threats that could ravage Omedei. He is also a part of the Nature Pantheon as The Embodiment of Protection. His mount is recognized as being a Vello Drake with green and black scales.
Dogma
Aust is a very cautious and by-the-book Idol. With rigid command and an unbending oath to protect Omedei and the Elves that inhabit it, Aust is the type of Idol to lay His life on the line for the sake of what He believes in. This behavior, however, has led to many believing that Aust views martyrdom as an intrinsic value. This is far from the truth, as He views martyrdom as a last resort if there are no other options. Selflessness and the protection of those that can't defend themselves are the values that Aust holds true to.
Gaining Favor or Redemption
Aust does not ask much of his followers, but it is simple on how to gain favor with him. This can be done through primarily protecting and preserving life of all kinds. This does have its own implications, but to be able to improve your personal abilities to be able to protect yourself implies that you can, in turn, protect others. Redeeming yourself in Aust's eyes is not that easy. To lose favor with Aust is to take a life that caused no harm or didn't need to die. This "gray area" has led to many who worship Aust to misconstrue His worldviews and believe that they must be pacifists or never kill. This is furthest from the truth. If you have to kill then you must, but it shouldn't be your first resort. You will not be faulted for trying to save a life. However, redemption is harder still. Redemption requires weeks of prayer, saving someone that was deemed irredeemable, or even saving a life at the possible cost of your own.
Interactions with the world
Aust protects all of nature and the lives that exist on Omedei. His worldviews have influenced those that worship Him, and thus most of His worshippers are druids or rangers. It is even more apparent that worshippers of Aust become paladins that seek the active duty of protecting life at any cost. This fanaticism is appreciated, but warrants concern from many of the druids of Aust. Aust has gone out of His way to provide His people the needs to defend themselves and will often try to intervene on events that involve Caladon.
