Aquatic Elf
Aquatic Elves, also known as Gaeredhel (Singular) or Gaeredhil (Plural), are elves that are about the same height as humans and have skin colored like the sea and hair as green as kelp. An adaptation for these elves is that they have partially webbed toes and fingers. Most aquatic, or sea elves, tend to use tridents, spears, and nets for means of defense and warfare, and possess differing traits from the more common elves encountered throughout the world.
Elves are Average or Medium-sized creatures.
Elves have a movement speed of 30ft.
Elves are immune to the sleep spell, and have advantage on saving throws against charms (5e Ruleset).
Elves have a +2 to resistance on enchantments, and are immune to the sleep spell (3.5e Ruleset).
Elves do not sleep. Instead they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.
Elves have Darkvision, which is superior vision in dark and dim conditions. An elf can see in dim light within 60 feet of them as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Additionally, elves are able to discern color in darkness through their darkvision.
Elves are proficient with Longswords, Rapiers, Longbows, Shortbows and Firearms.
Elves are capable of discovering nearby secret passages.
Elves are able to speak, read and write both the Common Tongue and Elvish. Additionaly, elves are able to choose between the following languages: Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, and Sylvan.
Aquatic Elves gain a +2 to Dexterity, and a -2 to Intelligence.
Aquatic Elves gain a swim speed of 30ft.
Aquatic Elves have gills, and since they aren’t amphibious, they can only survive for an average of ten hours outside of water or without hydration.
Traits of an Aquatic Elf
As an Elf, they have the following traits:
Elves maintain roundabout the same qualities as humans, even though they weigh less.
Elves have shown a distinct immunity to magical sleep spells and other stimuli. This is probably due to their mental training and trances.
Elves are capable of seeing twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. Unlike dwarves, they can still see colors and details with this keen eyesight.
Elves have access to training and exposure with longswords, rapiers, longbows, shortbows, and firearms. In doing so, it isn’t hard for an elf to learn how to use these by the time they become adventurers.
Elves are so observant of their surroundings that if they pass by a secret passage, they have a chance of stumbling upon that passage. It really depends on whether or not they are willing to undergo that venture into the unknown.
Elves are capable of integrating themselves amongst different people, and thus able to learn different languages.
Additionally, Aquatic Elves have the following traits:
Aquatic Elves still remain nimble and graceful, which aids them greatly when dealing with the harsh currents and constant exposure do the dangers of the sea. As such, Aquatic elves are considered to have the same dextrous trait and to be sturdier than normal elves, however they aren’t as fortunate when it comes to thinking clearly.
