The Giant Yard

Towering skeletal structures dot the landscape and countless dead creature lie lifeless upon the ground. Massive bone spires stick from the ground erected towards the sky like manmade towers. Moss and mold cling to surfaces as if in an embrace. Corpses of giants and dragons either sit silently or continually regenerate their flesh as it decays away. Countless species of fungal life thrive in the curiously humid climate. Throngs of dead roam through the region aimless as they are forever cursed to remain here or be eradicated. The giant ruins sits untouched for ages ripe for archaeological discovery and wonder. Sickening magic swims through the air that keep the entire yard in a state of regenerating decay. Disease thrives in the atmosphere and clouds of yellow spores float through the region. The Giant Yard is a land of the dead, a magical necropolis that will never fully decay like a mortal body.   Sitting in the Agre Basin to the southeast of Asdrazsa is a terrible sight. A kingdom of the dead consumed by the magic of a dead forsaken god.

Geography

The terrain is a large hilly plain with a network of smaller canyons that reach down towards the Underdark. Yellowed grass coats the soil of the hill and skeletons are scattered throughout the landscape. Some of the skeletons are large enough to creature entirely new hills that are covered by moss and mold. The canyons and ravines are similar to gashes, as if it was torn by a massive hand of claws. Soil and silt clings to the stone walls of the ravines and bridges connect the two sides like large branches appearing from the stone.

Ecosystem

The rotting scene is home to lakes and ponds of acidic water, alien creatures, and fungal life. as well as the undead who roam mindlessly throughout the region. The area is almost entirely hostile to most forms of mortal life. Those that do live in the region are often incredibly hardy and resistant to most diseases and poison. They mainly feed off of the decay that persists throughout the region feeding on the rotting carrion. The fungal life consists of the normal mushroom as well as other forms of parasitic moss and other strange examples that eat away at the decaying flesh that keeps regenerating back magically.

Localized Phenomena

Even though it sits in the middle of Farwind, it maintains an incredibly humid climate throughout the year. The magic that persists charges the air and makes it feel incredibly heavy like a summer day in a jungle.

History

The land was first settled by the giants who lived in Farwind before Dwarvenkind. After catastrophe and a terrible conflict with dragons and other beasts, they were forced to leave the region as their homes were left abandoned. Their barrows and keeps remain unclaimed by giantkin as the Dwarves took to them shortly after arriving. However, after Dwarven rule for 2400 years, the humans came in and conquered the region, leaving the Giant Yard alone as they thought it was not fit for human or elfkind. Dwarves held the Giant Yard and it stood as the last bastion of Dwarven Rule in Farwind. However, when the Ruination came the entire region was the site of a terrible ritual held by a cult to the King of Rot. After the ritual was complete the entire region was swathed in a plague that began to regenerate the dead dragons and giants that littered the regions. The Dwarves could not hold back the coming waves but their sages managed to counteract the curse by restricting it to this zone. The Dwarves who lived there perished and came back as the walking dead, they joined the giants and dragons that were awoken from their rest. Every undead within the region is compelled to stay within the confines of the Giant Yard. However, as of late there have been some who ventured beyond and caused havoc beyond the confines of decay.
