Hallen-Coredesh

Once a pair of rival kingdoms, a political marriage has drawn both nations together and formed a new realm. The Personal Union of Hallen-Coredesh, often shortened to the Union of Hallen-Coredesh, is an Absolute Monarchy in Northern Czerelan. Located around the northern end of the Ardese Valley and to the south of Farwind, Hallen-Coredesh has been formed as a larger power in the region, but not powerful enough to be a great enough threat compared to their neighbors. The threat of looming invasions from Farwind peer from further north.

Structure

It is a joinet feudal society. The political union between two dynasties has brought the lands of Hallen and Coredesh together in union. At the head of the union is the King and Queen. Rulers of their respective nations. They are however restrained by a council of many nobles and influential people who vote on the laws and current standing of the nation. Whenever a new king and queen is to be chosen, the council votes on which family shall be married to the heir of the kingdom. When the time comes for the heir to find marriage, the council comes together to form a conclave and vote on a noble family from the opposite kingdom of the current heir. If the heir is Hallenic or Hakan, the marriage must be to someone of the Coredic of Coredeshi group. If the heir is Coredeshi or Coredic, the marriage must be to a noble of Hakan or Hallenic ancestry.
They have a sizeable standing military due to the dangers of the wilderness around them, and the looming threats of nearby states who seek to conquer to lands of Hallen-Coredesh. Their army belong to a branch known as the Spears of Stomir. They swear fealty to the kingdom of Hallen-Coredesh and are under the order of the monarchs and the council. However, during times of strife their power can be taken away from those who would abuse it.

Currency

The main coin used by the Union of Hallen-Coredesh is the Hallenic Thune. This coin was adopted by the Union from the original Kingdom of Coredesh. These coins are square pieces of copper mined from the Vas Mountains. The other primary currency is the Hallenic Zselka, a piece of gold formed into an oval enscribed with the phrase "Prosperity among community" as well as a portrait of the current ruler on the front face, and the seal of the Union on the back face.
