Elves

Elves are a beautiful, long lived, and varied race who have spread to each corner of the world. Artistic and graceful, they are also highly adaptable, joining with the other species of the Mortal Realm. They still carry an innate magic with them from their fey ancestors. They are often quite intelligent and beautiful, but there is still something quite alien about them that seperates them from the other Mortal Races.
Elves are not of this world. Their ancestry does not tie them to the realm of mortals that gave birth and rise to the races of the Human, Orc, or Dwarf. They, along with Gnomes, Satyrs, and Goblins, come from a land most mysterious. Elves originally come from the realm of the Faeries, a neighboring realm to the Mortal Plane. They lived for thousands of years in that place, but as factions formed between the Faeries, the Elves and others were forced into sides. During the Third Courts War, countless refugees had finally had enough and joined a great exodus into the Mortal Plane. The Sylvan Exodus was led by two extremely powerful Elves and a mysterious Archfey who led them to the Mortal Realm. Upon leaving their realm behind, they severed their ties to the realm of Faeries and became the Elves as we know them today.
The Elves of the Material Realm have since spread across the known world, seeking to create a new home for the one their left behind tens of thousands of years ago. Now, they have created a kingdom of their own, the Dy Pwud. A realm of Sylvan Successors, ruled by those whose family came from the great portals. Those who did not remain have since spread out, moving into the cities of the other races and intermingling with those who live there. The two major groups of Elves and the High Elves and the Wood Elves. The High Elves are those who have traveled beyond the lands of the Dy Pwud and have intermingled with other socieities, or founded their own cities among other folk. The Wood Elves are those who remained in the Dy Pwud or those who come from outer Pwudish enclaves around the world. They are more connected to their Sylvan roots and share more naturalistic traits, as well as some having a more alien, Fey appearance.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This humanoid species has larger eyes than humans and sharper features. These sharper features appear in the form of their eyes, sharper pronounced cheekbones, a narrow chin, and especially their pointed ears. They have hair on their head and across their body, but naturally can have trouble growing facial and body hair.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

This species with extradimensional roots has access to a suite of abilities. Their eyes are more attuned to the dark, being able to see much better than other creatures who walk during the day or spend time in the sun. They also have a resistance against magic that can alter someone's psychology or thoughts. They have a keen resistance against charms and certain forms of enchantment. This species also requires no need for sleep, only requiring a trance for a short time while remaining conscious.
