Angelvein Glass

During the unification of the Daggerpoint Peninsula by the first kings of Veret. Claudius Avaraine wielded a spear of brilliant glass. A rainbow sheen relected off of the surface and veins of gold ran through it as if it were pumping godly ichor. He wielded this spear and unified his people after centuries of conflict wracked the land. Now, the spear sits above the throne in Ardissa, a reminder of what it took to build the empire. The material of which the spear is created is wildly valuable. When a blade is forged from Angelvein Glass, it is no mere blade.
Angelvein Glass is a material often found in vastly powerful items. It is incredibly durable and holds great magical potential, wielding the power of the heavens themselves. However, this material comes at a great cost, being refined from the sacrificed blood of a celestial freely given. In order to acquire this powerful material, an angel or other creature of the heavens must give up it's life force to create the material required. That is why Angelvain often pops up during times of dire consequence. When things appear at their utmost darkest, one must sacrifice themselves in order to save a world they do not belong to.
This material has been found in weaponry, armor, magical focii, and several other powerful objects. However, objects with this material are incredibly rare, often being one of a kind or special artifacts. Forgeries of Angelvein Glass are nearly impossible due to the intracacy and detail of the material, and the feeling of awe it instills in those around it. If you are around genuine Angelvein, it will make you aware of its presence with the glare of its clear surface.

The Material is the subject of poem and tale around the world. It looks like clear glass. Light shines upon the surface revealing a rainbow colored sheen. Blues, reds, purples, and golds reveal themselves to the eyes of those who see it. Veins shoot through the material appearing as if pumping godly ichor in colors of gold, silver, platinum, and carmine.

Angelvein is often smooth and glass-like in texture upon the surface. It is impervious to acid and holds great promise for magic. Oftentimes, things created from the material are gifted great magical boons. Even if the angelvein is not imbued with magic at the moment, or forged into an item. It still holds great promise as a magical ingredient or to serve as a core for an Anivance. Angelvein cores are known to be the greatest anivance cores known to mortal mages. The souls imbued into angelvein anivance cores are found to be gifted great power and ability. They can also last for over a millennia without degenerating.

Origin & Source

The origin of the material is one that carries controversy. Angelvein does not appear naturally in any realm. The rarity comes from the fact that it must be willingly given by a powerful creature. Beings of the greater planes known as celestials are the only creatures who can create angelvein. It is not a material that can be smelted, refined, or even found. It must be sacrificed. Angels must give up their own life force willingly to gift the boon of Angelvein. Sacrificed in times of great need or utter desperation, some celestials give up themselves in order to see the world keep going by sacrificing their life essence. When the angel dies, their blood pours into the a shape and hardens into angelvein glass. There have been records of celestials giving up only a portion of their life force for angelvein, but only a truly powerful celestial who holds substantion luck can do such a thing.
