Although dialects between tribes differ wildly, most orcs speak a variation on a core common language that is known to outsiders as Orcish. Two orc tribes from different areas will speak different dialects of orkish but can usually find enough common linguistic ground for basic communication with one another.

Writing System

Orc writing is known as Orcscratch, and consists of claw marks for lettering and symbols. It is especially efficient in the language of war and describing maps and tactical diagrams but is otherwise fairly primitive.
