Olisphis

The World

This is Olisphis. The majority of the world is covered by ocean, with several islands and a few archipelagos breaking it up. Because of this, the ocean is a major part of daily life for the average person. For ease of navigation and exploration, the ocean is divided into nine regions:

1. Central Ocean
2. Northern Ocean
3. Northwestern Ocean
4. Western Ocean
5. Southwestern Ocean
6. Southern Ocean
7. Southeastern Ocean
8. Eastern Ocean
9. Northeastern Ocean

The People

Currently, the only intelligent creatures in Olisphis are humans, who cover the world. There are as many cultures and nations as there are islands, but a few are noteworthy.

The Arvini:

The Arvini are easily the largest people group in all Olisphis. They are nomadic traders who live on the ocean. Most other societies first came into contact with one another through the Arvini.

The Denir:

Hailing from the island of Deniri, the Denir are world-famous scribes and mages. In fact, the first known writing system hails from the Denir.

The Denir are split into two smaller people groups from the two Denira nations, the Luhi and Tova.

Kantans:

While they do not hail from a single nation, Kantans have a large impact on the world. They are pirates, often with Arvini heritage, who worship the goddess Kanta, attacking ships and killing crews in her name.

One of my goals with Olisphis is to create a world that is open for others to participate in, whether that be through characters, stories, or roleplays. I'm not arrogant enough to think that people are going to be clamoring to join Olisphis, but I want people reading through to know that it's an option if they want it.
