Verandra

Verandra is the goddess of luck, change and freedom. She is considered the trailblazer that constantly pushes the world forward, encouraging positive change in the world by ensuring thins do not remain the same for too long. As such, she often patrons those who actively hope to change the world, be they budding revolutionary, reform-minded noble, or fresh-faced adventurer. This also makes Verandra drastically opposed to many forms of oppression, making all of her worshippers freedom fighters in some regard.
Perhaps the most interesting facet of Verandra is that, due mostly to her fleeting and changing nature, she lacks the temples of most other gods. The only true temple to her exists within the blessed city of Drea: all other places of worship are small shrines or path markers, spread across the world by her worshippers as they traveled the lands.

Tenets of Faith

Chase the setting sun, and never allow your roots to slow you down.   Freedoms and liberties should be allowed to all; ensure those who deny this face proper punishments.   Those who wield luck and chance bend the world to their will, if the world does not reverse their attempts.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Depictions of Verandra usually show her as a well-traveled, often young woman wearing the garb of a traveler and possessing an outward look. She is always depicted looking forward, for the ways of change and alteration never look back.

Body Features

While she varies greatly, the most common form of Verandra's appearance is her outward stare and worn clothing. Because she is the patron of travelers and the like, it is very rare for her to be portrayed as wearing ornate or well-kept apparel, if she is given any at all. In addition, she is often shown looking towards a horizon or setting sun.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Most tales surrounding Verandra speak of her out-witting other gods and undoing their plots, either for righteous reasons or just to spread a little chaos. Many tales also place her alongside Artifice, as she has acted as his inspiration and guiding role for centuries untold. If she has any common enemies, they are usually the brutal Avaritum or the domineering Lucentius, whose totalitarian ideals she constantly works to undo.

Gender Identity

Most tales of Verandra paint her as a feminine figure, though just as many seem to show her as a genderless force of change. When addressed, she still identifies herself as a goddess though.

Intellectual Characteristics

With a legendary quick wit, Verandra's in-the-moment thinking makes up for her (supposed) lack of retained knowledge and learning. Her very nature makes quick decisions and street-smarts preferred by those who follow her, so pure intellect isn't as important.

Morality & Philosophy

Promoting change and freedom above all else, Verandra pushes her followers to oppose acts of tyranny and aid in freeing those who cannot free themselves. She also aids those who wander the world and chase the horizon, even if they do so to sate a simple wanderlust.

Social

Contacts & Relations

The saints of Verandra are those souls who forever wander the roads of Genaeth, seeking new sights and finding greater heights despite their long history in the world.   Saint Bennett: Saint of chance and luck, Bennett is believed to be the reason behind all halflings being considered inherently luckier than other races. While such basic concepts are considered under his influence, his relation to luck has also made him the patron of gambling, with many casinos or gambling halls having small shrines to him.   Saint Orand: Catfolk patron of wanderers and curiosity, the non-sedentary nature of Saint Orand's dogma draws parallels to deities other than Verandra. However, his wanderlust and inquisitive personality are rooted in passion for discovery. He promotes curiosity and adventure for it's own sake, not having some secondary agenda. His followers often follow this creed, becoming migrant adventurers always searching for another story to tell.   Saint Ezekial: Controlling the realms of change and choice, Ezekial leans heavily into the change-bringing ideals of Verandra. He exists to stir pots, alter existing norms, and generally make something set in it's ways change. While this has many good forms, it also makes his worshippers those most closely related to basic tricksters, as they can just as easily pull small pranks as topple cruel regimes.
