Saint Berranor

Saint dedicated to the keeping of the home and hearth under the goddess Elsana, Saint Berranor is a gentle hearted being who blesses those that give to others and serve dutifully in all actions. Her clergy are those most associated with marriage, and while other members of the Prime clergy are able to conduct weddings, marriages officiated by those sworn to Berranor are considered lucky and more likely to last until the partners depart each other eternally. The dwarven habit of sticking to one's home and worrying about it first and foremost is often attributed as coming from Saint Berranor.
As part of their union and in imitation of the greater giants of yore, Saint Magnar and Saint Berranor took a portion of their own power and imparted unto their most loyal followers, creating the Dwarven hero-saints known collectively as the Seacadh. All lesser gods in their own right, the Seachadh each founded one of the great Dwarven cities and have gone on to become legendary heroes the world over. While Vergadain is often seen as a blood-brother or general companion of the Saints, the remaining four members of the Seacadh are often portrayed as the children of Magnar and Berranor, with Hranstir and Cathhaddin taking more after their father than their mother. Among members of the Seacadh and most dwarves, Berranor is called Berranor Bannigan, meaning Hearthkeeper.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Iconography of Saint Berranor usually places her in a very motherly light: she is often seen holding some form of infant or extending a supportive hand. The specifics of this design very from artist to artist, though she is always shown with her staple long braided hair and clean-shaven face, something more common outside of Dwarven holdings.

Mental characteristics

Accomplishments & Achievements

Berranor has few myths or feats centered solely around herself, usually appearing in the tales of other Saints as a secondary character. Being that she is one of the less prominent deities, her appearances usually center around her giving wisdom to another, or arriving at the last minute to give the moral of the story. This solidifies her role as a coach and guide to the dwarvish people: promoting action rather than being active herself.

Intellectual Characteristics

Berranor's wisdom is solidified in the pantheon, as she is often portrayed as matching her husband in wits. In addition, she is known for having an extensive knowledge of the natural world and its riches, both of which she is known for giving to those worthy of such knowledge. The most well-known of these people are her own children, Duman and Dagnalar.

Morality & Philosophy

To Berranor, acting in the interest of home and clan is always the wisest course of action. In her eyes, one must always think of their own kin and livelihood before acting in a way that could affect either.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Members of the Seacadh: Amongst the Seacadh, Saint Berranor is loved and respected. Her interactions with Saint Magnar are those of a loving partner/spouse, and while she doesn't seem to speak with Vergadain frequently, she is far from hostile with him. With the remaining members she is often shown as doting and motherly, though not to the point as to baby her children to the point of becoming spoiled. They respect her in kind, as any child is expected to.   Saint Ebele: Berranor's interactions with Ebele are considered close and friend-like. They both acknowledge their roles in the caretaking of others, and Berranor is often shown to be grateful for how the work of Ebele keeps homes more orderly and safe. Outside of that, their respective clergies often work alongside each other caring for the masses, and seeing either is rarely regarded as a negative sign.   Saint Evelyn: Evelyn and Berranor have a fairly positive relationship, as they often work in very related fields. Evelyn promotes activities that result in the creation of children, while Berranor promotes actions that involve the raising of children, so a kind of professional respect exists in how they interact. They both also promote ideals of unconditional love and care for others, so such ideals make them even closer.
