Cathhaddin Curaidh

The First-Thane, Lord of Axes, Shieldbrother

Dwarvish avatar of martial prowess, strength, and warriors, Cathhaddin is easily the least complicated of a very uncomplicated pantheon. Favoring those skilled in weaponry and warfare, the Battle-Lord is grants boons to those who prove their prowess in combat. He also grants favor to those who go out of their way to protect others, as he sees honor in the defense of those who cannot defend themselves.
Being one of the younger dwarven avatars, Cathhaddin is the son of Magnar and Berranor, as well as the brother of Dagnalar, Hranstir, and Duman. He is one of the middle children, being older than Dagnalar but younger than Duman and Hranstir. He is also the first of Magnar's children to begin to lose their lawful orientation, as his children became more chaotic as time passed.

Divine Domains

The sole domain Cathhaddin gives to his followers is War, as that is as far as his power goes.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Iconography of Cathhaddin usually shows him as a muscled and fit dwarf with a medium-length beard. He is always shown in ornate armor, ranging from leather hide to burnished steel. In addition, he is always shown with one of his signature weapons; Doclaidhemhor, Gerradaxe, Laidershild, and Fadbogha.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Known for his many feats of skill and might, dwarves have a multitude of stories relating to Cathhaddin's adventures. Usually beginning with him searching for land to claim in the name of dwarfkind, they inevitably end with him fighting the creatures that already lived in said land, with goblins, dragons, and giants being reoccurring foes. While Cathhaddin rarely loses these conflicts, other tales speak of him being out-witted by his allies and enemies alike, such as when the trickster Vergadain convinced him that an axe of solid gold would be superior to one of iron, stealing his precious Gerradaxe in the process.

Intellectual Characteristics

While honorable and (usually) good-hearted, Cathhaddin is not considered the most intelligent dwarf god. Many stories tell of him being tricked, ranging from comedic gaffs at his expense to catastrophic problems that require the entire pantheon to intervene.

Morality & Philosophy

Cathhaddin promotes martial prowess and skill above all else, and gives boons to those who possess these traits. In addition, he looks favorably upon those who use their strength to protect the weak, regardless of how strong they themselves are.
