Breathe In....
One breath in...
Two staggered breaths out...
She steadied herself as she ran through the moonlit woods, the taste of blood welling up in her mouth as her lungs started to give out, yet she focused on her breathing. One breath in and two staggered breaths out. Her feet felt unsteady with every step, she'd been running for an hour now, unsure if that thing that looked like her was still chasing after her. Her thoughts raced back to the gruesome scene she just saw, her parents in individual parts strewn about the kitchen, her brother on the floor with his arm held up high by something and that thing holding him, it looked like her but its face was distorted, minor differences like the teeth and eyes. She noticed immediately, something pretending to be her, but it managed to get close enough to her family.
She continues running until she gets to a denser part of the woods, taking cover behind a tree to relax, aiming to keep on running.
She takes a long breath in,
A long, shaky breath comes out,
And she was still holding her breath.
