Aurora Prelate

The highest ranking members of both the Daybreak Order and the Nightfall Cult, decorated Paladins, Clerics, Priests or other religious workers who have served for a long periods of time, acting as bridges between the two organizations.

Career

Qualifications

Aurora Prelates need to have served either the Daybreak Order or Nightfall Cult for a minimum of 15 years to even begin the rites of becoming one, additionally they need to have shown excellence in their religious duties and allegiances towards Sciadan.

Career Progression

Once a person becomes an Aurora Prelate, their only progression in furthering their devotion is eventually becoming an avatar or being chosen by their respective deity.

Payment & Reimbursement

In terms of payment they are still members of either the Daybreak Order or Nightfall Cult and living off of donations, or within their smaller religious communities that are funded by the kingdom, putting their devotion to Phezion, Althara, and the Kingdom of Sciadan above material needs and payment.

Other Benefits

Due to the scarcity of individuals who end up becoming Aurora Prelates, the kingdom of Sciadan offers prestige to those who rise up to the task. Paid for housing within the noble or palace districts, access to the kings more exclusive chambers for the purpose of feed, luxury, etc.

Perception

Purpose

Aurora Prelates are chosen of their deity and sworn eternal protectors of Sciadan, they regularly take on missions that regular paladins of the Daybreak Order cannot, and operate in the times when the Nightfall Cult is inactive, acting as powerful bastions and keeping the people safe.

Social Status

Aurora Prelates are seen as the top of their class in terms of religious worshippers of Phezion and Althara. While not everyone strives to become one due to the effort, danger and time it takes to become one. Despite not being very sought after, they are praised about as much as their respective deities are.

History

Aurora Prelates first came into existence after the first war against Chaffinch when the Daybreak Order and Nightfall Cult became much more established entities within Sciadan, the first Aurora Prelates were appointed by each of the groups, swearing eternal allegiance to the residents of Sciadan, the Muireach dynasty and their deities.

Ever since then, they've been immortalized and so has each Aurora Prelate after them, with statues, paintings, and plaques in each of their honors.

Operations

Aurora Prelates don an armor forged with steel alloy imbued with powers from their divinity, crafted at either noon or midnight. They also attach a religious talisman to their weapon of choice as a form of protection.

Otherwise, they do not carry much on their person unless it pertains to their duties, such as camping materials if they are to be out for extended periods of time or more specialized materials, such as certain scrolls or artifacts to help them on quests and missions.

Dangers & Hazards

Aurora Prelates are usually out fighting the stronger foes that challenge even group of paladins from the Daybreak Order, regularly risking their lives on a daily basis.
