Crawling Thornbite

A form of jawed trap plant that targets small sized creatures by preference. It photosynthesizes unlike most trap plants, but uses an insidious method to spread itself far and wide. It is the source of the illness know as Seed shivers. Thornbite is a violently swift spreading parasitic plant. It is said that the stress induced by being caught in one is comparable to drowning, but you do not die. Not yet at least.

The vine like stalk that holds the flower, can move up to 15 feet out along the ground and lift up to 90lbs, or drag up to 200lbs. The whole structure can photosynthesize.

Genetics and Reproduction

Using rna recombination to turn cellular bodies of other biological life into effective mobile seed pods that flee from it.

Growth Rate & Stages

The initial growth of the plant from seed seems quick at a long view but they do not reach full size for several years. during this time they start to seed after a year catching smaller vessels for the change.

Ecology and Habitats

Can grow anywhere that is less than 105 degrees f, or above 40 and can survive freezing temps.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Photosynthesis takes care of the energy and respirates carbon dioxide to create oxygen.

Biological Cycle

During growth the leaves drop after a year and new ones grow in. The flower stays on it.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Fine fibers that can detect movement as low as 100 grams. The body closes if they are stimulated enough.
Conservation Status
Would be targeted for elimination if not for the fact that it is a favored food of a powerful beast of burden. Sentients are under standing orders to avoid and report any that are discovered.
