“Many things lie beneath our feet. Souls beyond number, realms without boundary, incomprehensible wonders just waiting, nay, itching to be discovered. Even with the historical magnificence the current cities and kingdoms hold they pale in comparison to the realms and peoples whose description is beyond our dictionary. We need only be brave enough to reach them, strong enough to carry them back and smart enough to not let them destroy us, as they might have destroyed themselves.”   Diary of Count Perez, page 6, lines 7-13   Welcome, Chronicler. Welcome to the world of Ofadin, a world of endless cycles of civilizations rising and falling, of golden ages stripped away and of ancients lashing out against the changing times. It is the tale of the current civilizations, ones that managed to outlast the apocalypse, civilizations that emerged victorious against a foe older than their oldest ruins and forgot the reason their forefathers had been benevolent in the first place. Now they sally from the forts that sheltered them, once more chained by feudal lords or cruel raiders. The continents are largely splintered into city-states, each fighting for control over resources, villages or strategic landmarks. The idea of a unified realm is held in the same regard as a miracle, with the only standing example of its possibility being the crumbling empire of Mormiloa, whose capital dazzles and stuns with its marvelous architecture and elden treasures.   Though, this is all about to change.   Far to the north, a group of peasant fighters resisting the wars of greedy nobles has begun to shout for a united state where every man, woman and child will be held equal before the gods and judges; should they succeed it would be the first large state on the continent, barring the Pelagekin Federation to the east which could barely be considered as united. The underground has been probed deeper than ever before and brand new kinds of ruin and dungeon are being dug up. Arenaemancers are bringing up strange visions with their magic, prompting races for better technology, more explorers and more soldiery to fight off their competitors. All the while, a menacing cult plots and spreads its webs within the shadows, worshiping a star warning of the returning apocalypse. A second Downpour, where the Abominations will return…
