Guardians of Devotion Session 04 Report
A Most Potent Brew
General Summary
Chester sends the party to help his friend Glowkindle with a problem at his brewery in an old wizard tower. Once they arrive, they are met by Glowkindle, a charismatic Gnome with tight black pants, green suspenders, a fine bycocket hat, and a beard that would earn the respect of any Dwarf. He provides his specialty drink, Tashalar Pale Ale, on the house of course, and explains that he is trying to renovate to expand the Wizard's Tower Brewery, but his workers got scared off by Rodents of Unusual Size.
Agreeing to help, the party ventures down into the basement and are immediately met a swarm of large black rats who are hungry for any creature that they can kill and eat. Transforming into a large snake, Thalia is able to devour one of the rats whole. After a number of rats are killed, the remaining few decide that these treats aren't worth it and flee back into the ruins of the old wizard tower.
Pursuing their attackers into the dark, the party is confronted with a riddle and a deadly floor puzzle to navigate believing that if they were to make a mistake, they would be cut to pieces.
Reaching the end of the corridor, the party chooses to take the door to the left and find themselves fighting two Giant Fire Spiders. After defeating the spiders, the party discovered the remnants of potions of enlargement and fire elemental and discover that these larger than life entities have merely been exposed to magical compounds. The party discovers a rat who is on the verge of transforming, but is able to prevent the transformation. Thalia was able to claim him as a pet, naming him Remmy. He has a much more complete name, but you'll have to ask Thalia about that.
The party decided to check the other room and found some nice flatware, but also had to fight several giant centipedes! But they were defeated easily enough. They were just creepy.
Coming up from the basement, the party told Glowkindle about their journey and assured him that he should be able to expand with no future problems. Singing their praises, the Gnome sent the adventurers back to Chester who congratulated them on their efforts and revealed that the Guild Hall would now be serving Tashalar Pale Ale as well!
