The Death of the Emperor

Surrounded by darkness, only a faint light shines from above. I move and I can feel as the little ones flee. I am master here. Time passes without measure, but then something moves above me making noise and disturbing my rest. It defies my rule and must be punished. I slam my arms into it. I can feel bones breaking. It is wounded and leans toward awkwardly. I rest for a time and then new noise can be heard coming from it. I move closer and pull it to me. My arms bash through it and I hear more scurrying. My arms encircle this beast as I break free of my domain cresting into place dry as a bone and so hot that it burns my skin. The heat comes from a glowing orb far away and little things, too small for me to care, are jumping away from my prize as I crush this ruthless invader and drag it down. Down beneath the waves and down deep into the darkness of my watery realm.
