The Grove
General
A Grove founded by Garret in the year 581. The Grove's defining feature is a large Banyan tree, with the surrounding area dominated by the smaller Canewood Trees. It is among these Canewoods that residents & visitors reside. The settlement and its buildings rest upon a raised "floor" of a Canewood tree's prop roots that provide shade to patches of Caif Shrubs that grow underneath. Due to the Canewood tree's odd root system, settlement buildings and walkways all function multiple feet above the water line. This serves multiple functions for the tree and the settlement: higher allowance for when the annual floods come through and additional shelter for the wide variety of plants and animals that naturally inhabit the area. A majority of the settlement's Canewood tree roots have seamlessly mingled and morphed together, creating a wide patchwork of raised platforms between the tall trunks.Celebrations
Flora and Fauna
The Caif Shrubs underneath the trees grow well in the wet shade and produce little black beans that can be boiled into coffee. Because some residents farm these shrubs and other crops, spiders are considered near-sacred and relocated out of homes rather than killed, as they serve to protect the plants from aphids and other creatures that might eat the yields. A portion of the bean yields are often eaten by local Otter Civet that live in the area, and is often encouraged by residents and farmers in the area as the partially-digested cherries are fermented to be easier to brew, less bitter, and naturally filters out the best/healthiest cherries for easier picking.Map
