Session #27 Recap
Adventure #27 Recap. Wealsun 13-18th
Written by Mitsou Ro'haru
Ro'Haru, Shiloh, Stu, and Sir Rob investigated some attacks on livestock. They met Darien and his wife Gertrude, who reported losing livestock to an owlbear 3 days prior. Stu picked up evidence of a trail, then the crew hiked into the Gnarley Forest to look for the owlbear. Not finding much, they returned to the farm to stay the night in hopes the owlbear would come looking for another easy meal. They made dinner, Ro'Haru bringing in a stag from the forest, Stu made a quite nice stew.
Upon the changing of the guard from Rob to Ro'Haru, the owlbear attacked. Shiloh shot and tore his tunic, but recovered enough to loose a more successful shot from his elven-made longbow. Stu Magic Missiled, which sent the owlbear fleeing into the sky. Ro'Haru landed a hit with his daikyu, then Sir Rob finished the owlbear with a shot from his heavy crossbow. Ro'Haru skinned and processed the male owlbear, trying to keep in mind things Yllvetica would have desired in this hunt. The party informed Darien and Gertrude of their success and made their way back to the Moathouse with the meat and hides of the owlbear.
The party set back out to see if they could find the owlbear's... nest? roost? cave? ... home, so they took the cart back to the farm, then set back out into the Gnarley Forest, heading east. They made it all the way to the High Road in the first half of the day without finding anything, but pressed on eastward. As night fell, the party found a cave in a small-ish mountainside and climbed up to it, with a few bumps and scrapes to Ro'Haru and Rob. They camped in the mouth of the cave, the night went uneventfully.
The party investigated the cave and found an old, abandoned cache of weapons, wine, silk, amongst other things. They found the owlbear's massive nest, alas, no owlbear eggs... or cubs. Biological scientists shall be consulted as to how owlbear young are brought into the world. The remains of Meribell, Darien's cow, was found. Rest in fly-ridden, mostly boney pieces. They sifted through a massive pile of bones of various ages. Shiloh found a gnoll skull for Nuwl, Rob found a gold ring with a blue gem. He hmmed, hawed, and finally committed to putting it on, then decided he could jump much better. Everyone tries the ring out, discovering the Ring of Jumping allows the user to jump vertically 10 feet and horizontally 30 feet, no matter their athleticism. Ro'Haru claims the ring, then the party works on getting some of the loot out. They'll come back during downtime and finish clearing out the place for a tidy profit.
