Session #25 Recap
The Escort to Twilight Falls:
Shiloh, Hazeem, Stu, and Miles escorted three pilgrims; a gnome couple, Zunkim and Thingla Boodlebop, and their dwarf friend, Khorbun Tundrum, to Twilight Falls, which is a mostly elvish town two days beyond Nulb on the High Road. The trio had waited for a week or so for their escort, thus were happy to get on the road.
The first night, during Miles' and Shiloh's watch, the group was approached by three men with crossbows, who hailed them at bolt-point and insisted they hand over valuables before things got messy. Miles, being the most suave communicator, moved to attack and was promptly shot in the thigh, then battle ensued. The highwaymen were quickly overwhelmed once the party fully engaged, with Khorbun wading in with a battleaxe and even Thingla putting a dagger in another highwayman's back. After a round or two, two highwaymen were dead, the other fleeing, Hazim's leather cap had one of Stu's darts through the top. Zunkim offered to heal Miles, who was literally licking his wounds, but Hazeem healed him, which blew the mountain-man's mind.
The next morning was another fine day for traveling and the party was well-rested. Hazim's leather cap was missing, which was bemoaned briefly, but not much fuss was made of it. Later in the day, Miles could hear the sounds of battle ahead, so he cautiously crept around and saw two panthers fighting a bear... person? Shiloh kicked Stu off the ballista and rained bolts into the big kitties, Miles and Stu threw stuff, and Hazim stayed out of the way. It didn't take much for the cats to be felled. Miles and Shiloh were cagey around this bear person for a beat, then the bear put up his paws and said "Don't freak out", then turned into a person. Some convo ensues and Barry shows them a few other cat carcasses that he apparently was being attacked by. Miles gets excited about pelts, then they part ways.
A little on-edge from the previous days, Miles is a little jumpy, but is just spooked by a few deer, which he allows to leave peacefully. They wander off. A quiet night for the first night in the Gnarley Forest. Hazeem keeps a watch with the gnomes, talks with them a little bit, learns that Zunkim is also a cleric of another god, but doesn't share which god that is.
The morning comes and rain has set in. Nothing terrible and the tree cover keeps the worst of it off, but the weather is less pleasant. They keep pushing on and have a quiet day's travel, followed by another quiet night.
The fourth and final day of travel sees for another dismal, rainy day, but by day's end the party reaches their destination. Appreciative for the escort, Zunkim insists on putting the party up for the night at the Moonsong Tavern. After a lengthy chat with the elvish barkeep, Zunkim comes back with drinks and, in a bit, food comes out. Thingla pays the party what they are due, 90 gold each, and everyone retires to beds for the evening, except for Miles, who guided to a tree that appears to be grown in a manner that it can be slept in with ease.
The morning comes, Hazeem finds his leather cap repaired and embroidered to match his holy symbol, and Stu finds a little pouch of some sort of dust.
The party returns without incident to the Moathouse with a scroll bearing the name of Zunkim and Thingla with a marking that someone will later discover as the symbol of Olidammara, the Laughing Rogue.
