Session #21 - A Trip to Nulb

General Summary

Quest Report by Yllvetica. Planting 9-12, 580 CY.   A small band made up of An Adventuring Guild members questioned the cultist prisoner in an unorthodox good cop-pissed cop-good cop routine. Our new Guild Member Filbo walked in on this routine and was not perturbed by how the guild was operating. This interrogation yielded an offer from the prisoner and some information regarding the temple: The various floors are held by different branches, or factions. Each faction corresponds to one of the elements: earth, fire, water, and air. The officer we captured offered to go back as the new leader (as the previous one was killed in our previous excursion) and allow our guild full access to the area and floors while the Black Earth faction wages it’s holy war on the other 3. Options for the guild will be discussed in the guild chat.   Additionally, the party explored Nulb and got in touch with a generous, yet shady, character known as Nulib, who recommended that outsiders to Nulb leave the locals to their business after buying the party some quality wine. Yllvetica purchased 10 bronze wood seeds from this man, with no issues. He then left Nulb to continue on his journey up and down the River buying and selling various goods and will be back in one month. Garret detected strong evil emanating from these men.   After drinking the night away, the party rested at the inn and only had one minor thief attempt to break into Ouritzo’s and Nuwl’s room, but only managed to break his/her own lockpicking tools before scurrying away unseen. In the morning, a lovely young woman named Pearl served the party and other patrons a wonderful breakfast that Garret paid in full with a 100% tip to try to impress the lady. Unfortunately for him, the party did not stick around very long after before splitting to talk to Otis and finalize Yllvetica’s deal from the night before down at the docks.   While down at the docks, the group met Carson. He is a fish monger who warned the party against Tulib, as the character is connected to shady practices.   When talking with Otis, the party learned that Carson is a man who can get a message nearly anywhere and would be a good man to be aware of. Additionally, Otis recommended talking to the nice, old Herbal shop women, as he thought they would be considerate of the Guild’s mission. Unfortunately for the guild, a party member had forgotten their manners and common decency and asked about acquiring poisons and promptly got the party thrown out for such an illegal and unethical request. And so with this information, the party went home with just as many questions as answers but also with a bit clearer view of the ToEE. While the party was discussing potential options and ideas to bring up to the other guild members on their return, the party ran into Laereth’s 20-something year-old son. He challenged Nuwl and wanted to kill him for killing his father, especially in such a wicked and sneaky way. Obviously the party was not going to let that happen so Garret entangled the man with vines and plants for 10 minutes while the party tried reasoning with the man and Ouritzo was having Laereth beat his own son into submission while he was paralyzed. Sadly, Laereth’s skeleton seemed to be a bit too eager and though the blows were supposed to be non-lethal, a stunning critical hit sent Laereth’s son to the afterlife and also into Ouritzo’s growing undead horde. The man was outfitted handsomely: a magical long sword, a magical dagger, and magical armor. It is unsure what the man’s name was, where he got the magical items, where he is from, or how he knew Nuwl had been the one to kill his father.
