Greyhawk 17: Kobold Mommies?
General Summary
Miles, Garbles, and Findere ventured back underneath the Greyhawk Castle. First things first, Findere tried removing the arrow from the wall slit trap from the previous (Greyhawk 16) venture. This went poorly and he took an arrow to the shoulder. Looking back, this felt a bit like foreshadowing…
After that, we continued on towards the room of rooms. Along the way, we heard an ominous witch cackle. From where, we couldn’t determine. We pulled Hamon and Howard up closer to us though to make sure they wouldn’t be too far away to protect if we’re attacked from behind. Through the room of rooms, we went to the area Garbles marked as area 1, which was a passageway that headed north. Following the passageway, we stumbled on a large archway that opened up into a large room full of kobolds. And with that, a fight broke out immediately.
The kobolds threw a wave of javelins at Miles. Miles threw his torch at the kobolds to get vision and maybe burn them a tad, but it didn’t hit any. Findere and Garbles put out cover fire and downed a few to start. The kobolds threw another volley of javelins and an incendiary that missed (thankfully). Miles charged in and starting laying the hurt on the back line kobolds. The armored and shielded kobolds took the opportunity to charge Findere (me) and cut Miles off from us. While they tied Garbles and I down with the charge, Miles took a few hits and, instead of risking dying to kobolds or being captured, ran into the fog painting the entrance to 3 stairwells in the room. Looking dire, Garbles and Findere renewed their efforts and managed to kill enough to drive the kobolds off.
Searching the room, we found a dresser of tools and clothing, a few barrels with water & snails & slugs (delicious, btw), a nest of kobold eggs, and a friendly magical frog. We took 11 of the eggs and the little froggie. After taking the frog to Willow, we determined the frog was actually Miles, so we went to the wizard guild and turned Miles back to human. From there, we inquired with Lord Henway on the sale value of kobold eggs. Turns out, they’re illegal to sell as they’re considered humanoids… but if we bring him the phase spider, he’d pay us 4000 gold pieces, so something to consider. Instead, we brought them back home with us and now have 11 kobold eggs to either dispose of or… care for?
