Greyhawk 14: Mini-Critters Moving In
General Summary
AAG set out once again to delve into Greyhawk Castle! Upon arriving, two members climbed up to the top of the ramparts guarding the main gate to let down the drawbridge, but when they crested the edge, they were suddenly surrounded by a crew of goblins. Instead of running, the two reacted quickly and cut the first few down, sustaining a couple gashes but nothing life-ending. Next, the two went after the goblin archers shooting down at their friends.
After clearing out the goblins, the crew went down the secret shaft previously obscured by mist. After traveling for a few minutes, the group spied a secret passageway on the left. This secret passageway split in two directions - left & right. The right ended abruptly with a prior cave-in blocking the path, so we went left next. We found jail cells holding a strong half-orc and an old kobold, as well as a couple red kobolds guarding the cells. After searching for a bit, we couldn't find any keys to let the prisoners out so we left a few sets of rations in there to tide them over for our next visit then continued on.
On further exploring, we found a locked door. After several minutes of trying to bash this room open, we finally pried it open only to be hit by a wizard's spell. Inside the room stood a kobold in robes & a couple giant boars. We incapacitated the wizard quickly, but the boars pushed us back while the wizard struggled to free him/herself. The boars put up a great fight, almost slaying our cleric even, until our fighter pushed through the boars & attacked the struggling wizard. This pulled the boars back to defend their master, & we managed to turn the tides against them quickly with the little breathing room.
We found a kobold statue & altar, as well as some trinkets & items throughout the room, taking all we could carry. On the way out, we spotted a secret door across the hall. Peering inside, we saw hay, poop, etc. - all indications that this is probably where the giant boars normally lived, or at least fed. The kobold wizard had a mysterious key on him, but it didn't work on the prison cells & it didn't match up with anything else we found. Will need further exploration.
Findere, session report for guild records. Over & out.
