Granny Shen
(a.k.a. Granny Shan)
Once a fearsome Storm Lord Rahu, Shanna the Axe, known affectionately as "Granny Shen" in her retirement, is a legend in her own right. In her prime, she terrorized the treacherous mountain ranges, carving out a multi-pack dominion and establishing a small kingdom through sheer grit and valor. Her relentless battles against the bizarre creatures, spirits, and supernatural oddities of the mountains became the stuff of legends. Throughout her eventful life, she buried multiple husbands, led numerous packs, and made friends whose names now reside in the misty recesses of her memory.
Now, in her late 50s to early 60s, Shanna decided to pass on the throne she had so ardently fought for to one of her daughters. She exchanged the title of "Sharra the Axe" for the endearing moniker "Granny Shen" and settled in Wolfhaven. Her transition from the fierce Storm Lord to the nurturing Lady of the Gate was marked by a profound shift in her priorities. Instead of ruling with an iron fist, she turned her attention to her family and the portal to Wolfhaven.
As the Lady of the Gate, Granny Shan is responsible for overseeing those who guard the Portal to Wolfhaven. She has become a central figure in the settlement, known for her wisdom and unyielding dedication to the safety of her people. Her experience as a former Storm Lord Rahu brings invaluable insights into dealing with threats from both the physical and supernatural realms.
Granny Shen is not just a guardian of the Gate but a beloved grandmother to many within the settlement. Her smile is as warm and comforting as a hearth on a cold winter's night. She can often be found in the portal room and gatehouse, surrounded by an assortment of grandchildren, offering them her boundless love and affection. There's always a plateful of freshly baked cookies, and by her side, a cloth bundle conceals a secret that's totally not an axe, or so she insists with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
In Wolfhaven, Granny Shen is not just a relic of the past; she is a living testament to the enduring spirit of the Uratha. Her transition from a fierce warrior to a loving guardian of the Gate serves as a source of inspiration and a reminder that even the most battle-hardened souls can find peace and purpose in the embrace of family and community.
