Cádiz
Cádiz is a city and port in southwestern Spain. Cadiz was the oldest continuously-inhabited city on the Iberian Peninsula and possibly all southwestern Europe. After the Moorish reign in the 16th century, the city began to prosper, later becoming the main trade port between Spain, the Caribbean and Ocrea.
Defences
Cádiz's main defense is from within the port, which holds almost the entire Spanish fleet.
History
The city of Cádiz was founded by the Phoenicians in 1100 BC. It started off as a trading post for various commodities like silver and tin. In the 13th century, the Moorish rulers were ousted by the Spanish, giving them full control of the port. It was from here that Christopher Columbus made two of his epic voyages to America, where he was the first to discover the Caribbean in the Atlantic.
Cádiz rose to prominence in 1520 when Emperor Charles V met with Takeda Shajin and Hernán Cortés, who have brought many wondrous gifts for the bewildered Emperor, including hundreds of cherry blossom seeds to be planted in Toledo and a "blue cat" for a pet, which forged a newfound alliance between the two countries. Charles V allowed the building of the Shajin embassy in the city, as well as implementing Shajin builders to make a few "improvements" to the town, such as proper sewers, bathhouses and cobblestones.
