Sunshine Milk Bar
"Quick Service" and "No Waiting" it promises, while the sounds of British bands emanate from its small space out into the street, though they're swiftly swallowed by the rumble of traffic.
Inside is an island of clean, with the immaculate white coat of the barman, the shining chrome and linoleum of the floor and counter. The soot and exhaust just beyond the portal slowly creep in over the course of the day, like a shadow that must be scrubbed clean each evening, but, by and large, this small hole in the larger building around it is bright and inviting, like its eponymous beverage.
Purpose / Function
To serve tasty dairy beverages (and the occasional soda) to their customers.
Architecture
The facade is shiny, almost plastic-like, which gives it a slightly futuristic look. Four folding doors are almost always open, leaving the bar open to the sidewalk and street, though they shut them in heavily inclement weather.
History
This 24-hour establishment is something of a new phenomenon in the city, providing people with a place to stop off for small sandwiches or drinks at any hour of the day or night.
