Nen Doral (The First City)

The first city settled on Obrios, Nen Doral plays an important role in its history. Located at the base of the Tamriel Steps and surrounding Nen Odora (The First Lake), Nen Doral is the perfect geographical location for a city in a harsh world. The city is home to a wide variety of people and is governed by a council made up of the city's twelve noble houses. Nen Doral is known to be very diplomatic with all of the other capitals on Obrios and has trade agreements with many of them. They will gladly share their abundance of grain and fresh water in exchange for other services and amenities.

Demographics

The species and races vary greatly, but the city has a larger than average human population.

Government

The city is run by a council of twelve Brightlords/Brightladies who oversee different aspects of the city. The council was created to provide equal representation for the people of Bahmarria, but has since become a soapbox for the various powerful noble houses of the city.

Defences

Nen Doral is completely walled in and the only entrance to the city requires one to cross a bridge in order to enter. The city itself is situated between three large mountains with dense forest covering most of the land to the north. This makes it hard for large armies to attack from the north and force them to assault the city from the south. While the city is a highly defensible fortress, there are few ways in and out and therefore can also be easily surrounded and boxed in by a competent army.

Industry & Trade

The city's primary source of industry is from trading its fresh water and grain, primarily to the war front in The Parched Lands and Storms Break. The city also has a high stock in jewelery, as most will come from all over the world to get an Unbound Dawnstone from the Tamriel Steps. A lot of the cities industrial Dawnstones are transported in from Storms Break via Light Rail.

Infrastructure

The Vucboon's who founded the city were guided by visions and very quickly set up watermills, food storage facilities, and a functional sewer and drain system. Shorty after the Vucboon started to explore the rest of the world in 1422, various trading outposts and roads were established between the new cities. The city also started to expand outward to the south setting up farms. These farms provide majority of the grain products in Obrios as there is very little land capable of producing grain. The City is also home to one of three Light Rail stations.

Assets

Nen Doral is located on the largest freshwater lake on Obrios and also the largest amount of soil capable of producing grain. It is also located at the base of the Tamriel Steps and people will pay a large sum of chips to aquire Dawnstone jewelry from the mountain.

History

Nen Doral was first founded in 1266 by Eioc. After finding a Dawnstone in the waters Nen Odora, the lake at the base of the Tamriel Steps, Eioc climbed the mountain with his tribe and from there they were granted visions. These visions led Eioc and his people to settle on Nen Odora and helped them create the city that is there today. Although the Council of Origins had long since disappeared, the founders still decided a group of rulers would be best for the city and so they modeled their government after the Council.

Architecture

The architecture in Nen Doral is primarily Bahmarian, and consists of a variety of buildings made of light, pale stone and wood from the surrounding area. Most buildings are single story, though there are many multistory buildings in Nen Doral. The buildings themselves use plenty of colours but are not nearly as colourful as the buildings of the neighboring nations to the south. While the south uses bright colours to separate their buildings from one another, in Nen Doral most of the buildings are pale or white and the different colours are used to highlight the buildings.

Geography

Nen Doral is geographically the safest and most practical city to live in. Said to be chosen by the gods themselves, the location is protected from the harsh weathers of Obrios by the surrounding mountain ranges. The city itself is located on the southern edge of the Cascading Forest and to the North of the Sunshaw Valley. The most notable geographical features are Nen Odora and the Tamriel Steps. The Tamriel Steps are home to the first Dawnstones and upon its discovery, have provided the stones for the last thousand years. Various streams and rivers run down the Tamriel Steps and meet at the base of the mountain, culminating in the massive lake known as Nen Odora.

Natural Resources

The primary resources of the area are the Dawnstones, Bazava wood, Knight's Wheat, and fresh water from Nen Odora.
