Edilburge

The gems of the north are difficult but worth wild

Edilburge is the home of the largest mountain peaks on the continent. The dwarves have lived there for generations and continue to do so happily. They welcome visitors, tourists, and merchants alike, though it will take work to get your foot in for selling. Loyalty is hard earned here, but it is well respected once achieved. The gem and crystal industry has been heavily influenced by gnomish contributions and special polishing techniques, so their sightings are also far from unusual. The sight of strongbacks like goliath or orc workers is not uncommon, and trust that any and all work here is well paid for.

Demography and Population

Territories

Edilburge's base is the dwarven ancestral homelands that they have inhabited for as long as anyone recalls. The large islands to the east only came into their possession within the last two hundred years after the Gnomatic Revolt.

Military

Early education for young dwarves gives them each enough training to serve if needed, but it has not been necessary within the last 100 years. The nation keeps several well-trained infantry units ready and on rotating guard duties. The most elite units are the League of Stone, often used as guards for important people.

Religion

Many younger dwarves don't see a need for religion, but most elders are still at least casual practitioners. Most religions are generally respected, but the goddess Haust has a temple in every city.

Foreign Relations

Edilburge is on good terms with their neighboring nations, though there are still some disagreements between certain individuals and others within the Fross Frills.

Agriculture & Industry

Edilburge houses the primary mining source for the continent. All precious metals and gems produced locally, are produced through them.

Trade & Transport

Most goods are carried by caravan down from the mountains and across the land. Given the general breeding out the mountains, caravan guard is a well-loved profession.

Education

Basic education is expected of all citizens. If you cannot read or count, how can you know if someone is being truthful with you? All children of all races are either sent through a basic elementary program or their families are assumed to have hired tutors.
