Quandrus

The path to knowledge

A nation of gravel and rivers, but few forests beyond. Some suggest the land is cursed, the ones who spend time at the great libraries suggest that the soil is simply spent from past years and poor management. Most towns stay by the rivers, the capital and home of the old Aitor Castle is within sight of the Ax gate.

Territories

Quandrus was always a nation of bits and pieces. Previously much smaller, they gained land steadily through the years, even several islands after the Gnomatic Revolt and another chunk by way of Mawhls Hogis walling up.
The most notable feature is the fine roads that can take you between cities and the borders. The terrain can be rough, so it was only intelligent to give pathways. Though old, they are well maintained.

Military

Every being considered adult by their race must serve a three-year stint in the military before what might be considered their middle age, this varies from race to race. Candidates for monarch must serve five years. If you don't complete this, you cannot vote or own land.
Given the bodies, they tend to keep healthy bodies of all units including a respectable navy.

Technological Level

Qunadrus has some of the most advanced architecture within the lands, not only their roads, but the Aitor castle and Matten libraries are both beautiful and elaborate.

Religion

Quandrus holds a large portion of intellectuals who both worship and question the existence of gods. There's no official deemed religion, but you will notice some cities and towns are more prone to a theological presence than others.

Trade & Transport

The roads of Quandrus are remarkable and enviable by many. The architects who originated them left plans for more, in fact, suggested a system of roads to cross the entire continent, but these plans didn't get terribly far. They are housed in the Matten Library.

Education

Education is vital and its expected that even those in the smallest of hamlets can read and write the common language, if not some others. Reading and reciting are seen as great displays and ways to pass time.

Infrastructure

The road networks from town to town are vital to the land. The Ax Gate, having only existed for the last 500 years was previously of little use, but now acts as an entrance and exit to one of the most curious countries in the land.
