Deathstalker

The Deathstalker are scorpion-humanoids with varying scorpion, and human attributes. Most Deathstalker have pincers, a tail, and at least some chitin armor. Some may even have multiple eyes. The race themselves are often regarded as being “evil” and “unholy” because of being offspring of the god of creatures and beasts, but this is in fact a misconception. A lot of Deathstalker are really great people and many even follow other gods, but some are indeed evil. They are born with hatred in them, and while their humane nature mostly subsides it, when they are young and sometimes older, they can become truly corrupt and evil. This is a reason people think Deathstalker are evil. When they turn to their scorpion side, to evil, they REALLY go all out. When a Deathstalker is evil, they are really evil. The most famous Deathstalker are evil ones. This is why it is difficult for them to stay out of wars. The most powerful Deathstalker are often the evil ones, and they are the ones that start wars.

Culture and cultural heritage

The Deathstalker have a culture that goes way back. Before the second rebirth, Deathstalker quickly rose in power in Dreagor with corrupt and evil leaders doing whatever they could to gain power. After about 200 years of this nonsense, a Deathstalker sage named Ch’anaaka realized that the leaders were wrong and unjust. He helped others see this, and together they rose up and defeated them. It was inevitable that they fell back into corrupt leaders again, but the Deathstalker never lost their sense of justice, and They remain a wise and noble race today.

Shared customary codes and values

While law isn’t a big problem for corrupt leaders, the community as a whole usually decides a shared law in their cities. Most Deathstalker only use their natural scorpion bits to intimidate or self defense rather than attack. Deathstalker community laws are usually very fair and just, making Deathstalker cities one of the nicest places to live in Dreagor. Some large cities even run an entire justice system and police force right under their government.

Average technological level

The Deathstalker, though an intelligent race, do not have many technological advancements that others don’t. They are all around average in this department.

Common Etiquette rules

Deathstalker etiquette is similar to most human etiquette, but with a few key differences. Deathstalker have strict rules on how to handle pincers and their tail around others, and a few other Deathstalker specific rules.

Common Dress code

Most Deathstalker wear a specialized Deathstalker shawl, as well as a pair of shorts.

Art & Architecture

The Deathstalker’s pincers make it hard to carve or paint anything to intricate, but they do make great pottery, surprisingly. Their tough hands can be surprisingly supple on clay, and their claws can make a variety of patterns. Some important and particularly well crafted Deathstalker pottery is sometimes bought by nobles to show off in their homes.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

There is a Deathstalker holiday called the Day of the a Great Sage. It is celebrated when Chanaaka led a Rebellion and overthrew the corrupt lords. It is celebrated from the day of the siege, to the day of when Chanaaka assumes the throne as a fair and just leader, which is commonly estimated to be from Life 43rd until River 5th, as a twelve-day celebration. As the days progress, the celebration grows more lively, and it is a wonder to be there on the night of the twelfth day.

Coming of Age Rites

A Deathstalker must prove themselves worthy at the age of eighteen by undergoing a series of three tests. These three tests are not told to the participants prior to it, but they are as follows:   A test of Wisdom   A test of Kindness   A test of Will   These tests will determine wether they are truly worthy of the name Deathstalker. If passed, they will earn the right to call themselves a True Deathstalker. Ironically, most corrupt Deathstalker usually do not pass these tests, and they are the ones who will hunger and ascend to power. Therefore, most Deathstalker rulers are not True Deathstalker.

Funerary and Memorial customs

If a True Deathstalker dies, they are to be buried in a burial ground. If a corrupt Deathstalker dies, they will not be put to rest, but instead be placed on a pole in the middle of the desert (probably in the middle of a Deathworm hunting ground) And left there.

Historical figures

Ch’anaaka was a Deathstalker sage that lived all the way back before the third rebirth. He reached enlightenment in a time of corrupting and helped the Deathstalker race as a whole come to know justice and light. He is highly regarded in Deathstalker culture, and there is even a holiday to honor him.
